The City of Amsterdam will be investing heavily in its bridges and quays in the coming years to preserve its heritage. This will cause considerable disruption in the city, affecting residents and visitors. To educate them on the rationale behind these projects, Amsterdam organized various activities, including Lego Week 2023, and during the celebration of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary, it also gave special attention to the Lego models.
Commissioned by the municipality, two bridges were selected that typify inner-city bridges: a double-lift bridge and an arch bridge. Two models of these were created, digitized, instructions drafted, and delivered in a series of sets. The models offer a challenging building experience at two different levels. The instructions and order forms will be made public by the municipality.
Completed in two halves, the Walter Süskind Bridge offers a challenging building experience, with movable bridge halves and ingenious construction techniques to create the sloping arches and white gates. Approximately 1,200 pieces
A sturdy bridge perfect for building with a friend. It's simpler than the Walter Süskind Bridge, but exceptionally robust and unmistakably the Four Heemskinderen Bridge. Approximately 600 pieces.
(Four sons of Ayon bridge)
Due to the size and detail of the bridge models, they will not look out of place in the living room or bookcase!
