And then, one of the coolest LEGO trade shows asked us to develop a gift set again. It was another challenge to create the most fun set possible for all those wonderful exhibitors; the theme was SPACE. A collaboration between ArneBrickDesign and StudioNOP.
We delivered 250 sets (plus display materials) in full-color printed boxes and downloadable instructions. 382 pieces per set.
The set uses different perspectives. The foreground is minifig (Lego figure) scale. There, BAM 2024's "sigfig" stands with a telescope, pointed toward space. In the distance, he sees a planet with a ring, orbited by a spaceship. In the background, a yellow city is visible. Is this the city of Yellow after moving to another planet in the distant future?
LEGO itself released a LEGO set with a rotating solar system, set 42179. We challenged ourselves to create a rotating planet in a micro set, along with a spaceship flying in reverse. And boy, did we succeed!
Our interpretation of a spinning planet.
Lego Technic set 2024 Space Solar System
The planet rotates in one direction, while the spacecraft rotates in the other. The planet is mounted on a 3mm flextube. The spacecraft is attached to a 7mm rigid hose. This allows them to rotate smoothly past each other.
A beautiful set deserves a beautiful box. The box features a QR code to access the building instructions; the proven, sustainable method for providing building instructions.
