Polyphemos
Polyphemos
For the fourth time, we had the privilege of helping a Make-A-Wish builder bring their LEGO dream to life. This time, the theme was Ancient Greece—specifically, the island of Polyphemus! The young builder was captivated by the tales of Odysseus’s adventures as told by Homer, and particularly by their musical interpretation in "Epic: The Musical". A collaboration with Arne Brick Design.
Length: 81.3 cm
Width: 42.9 cm
The young builder made a drawing for us in preparation. One island for Polyphemus the Cyclops (one-eyed giant) and one island where Polyphemus' sheep roamed.
We decided to make a sea with two open patches with a decorative border in a Greek theme. We left the exact design of the islands themselves for the building day itself, having ordered enough Lego to be able to make any kind of island.
We have already prepared building kits for Odysseus's ship, Polyphemus himself, and his sheep. The sheep are large enough to hide a minifigure underneath—just like in the actual story!
Construction is in full swing, and the whole family is pitching in!
And, of course, the logos for Arne Brick Design and Studio NOP couldn't be left out—printed on tiles in a vintage style, with the help of Brickprint.
And the result is impressive. The cave can be opened by sliding a rock, but the top can also be opened to reveal everything the Cyclops is hiding.
