The Cube

In the last years we have been asked to create both smaller and larger projects. This project surely fits the latter. Kuehne + Nagel asked us to design and supply fifty models in which the essence of its logistics business is shown.

Known as “The Cube” we made a detailed model that shows Kuehne + Nagel’s activities. Planes, ships, trucks, along with a distribution center, harbor, roads and airfield all surround the recognizable logo to celebrate Kuehne + Nagel's worldwide presence.

The model is presented in an acrylic display box measuring 60 cm x 40 cm x 43 cm and the models' unique number is engraved on a metallic plaque.

Designing

With the aim to show all the ways Kuehne + Nagel travels over the world, we designed an island to show trucks, ships, storage and planes. Different scales provide some extra perspective and dynamics, and fun details all along the build with micro builds, as small as a boat of a single piece, adorn the Kuehne + Nagel display, just like a pond, a waterfall and miniature trucks travelling heading towards tunnels through the Swiss mountains home to HQ of the company.

We searched for colour varaition to make the build as pleasing as possible. Blue, green, red, brighten up the main builds in white and gray.

Building

Massive amounts of pieces and mass producing subcomponents, luckily all was kept neet and tidy all the time... or attempted to.

Below a batch of ten The Cube's stand ready to be bubble wrapped, boxed and mounted on a pallet to head to Kuehne + Nagel.

Logistics

A big component in this project is planning, time schedules, logistics, timely work and safe shipping. and packaging.
As scheduled the 5 pallets fileld with boxes were picked up according to plan.

Some extra modifications to strengthe some of the builds that might need it on their way ahead.
