Risen to Great Heights

A LEGO Ideas competition focusing on Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism represents a vision of the future centered around African culture. The guest judge was Canadian LEGO artist Ekow Nimako, who focused on this theme.

This structure depicts classic African mud huts with colorful decorations, overlaid with futuristic African structures. The entire structure stands on a sturdy base that depicts a piece of Africa rising from the earth. This symbolizes how this piece of Africa has risen from the earth, and its success.

African color combinations are reflected in the buildings and the platform, as is an abundance of gold. A bench is adorned with two statues of African tribespeople, and the building with a white rhinoceros head.

All the structures are built around and around nature, based on the vision that a successful Afrofuturist image also encompasses harmony with nature.
