Exploring the Cosmos
Exploring the Cosmos
A space base in 250 pieces at most? So how do you show that it's both a base and in space? Microbuilding was the answer. By making everything super small, you can still show a lot.
The idea here is the planet Pegasus 5. A planet close to Pegasus 4 (see episode 6, Legomasters NL/BE S3, 2022).
The build consists of two cities, connected by tubes for transportation; like an above-ground metro system. In the back right, a former mine is visible in the mountains, while the stars and other planets/moons are visible in the sky.
249 pieces
Besides the renders made in Stud.io, this is a model built in real LEGO.
A spacecraft in 250 pieces max? Fine, let's make something that can handle any surface.
The craft is designed with the idea of a rover that can transform into a drone, so that if the planet's surface gets too rough, the drone can fly.
At the back of the rover is a transport tray, for things like energy crystals. When the rover transforms into Dorne mode, the transport tray slides under the drone to maintain its center of gravity. As a model, it serves as the lever that sets the wheels in driving or flying mode.
With some additional background, a gray planetary landscape, the total build comes to 244 pieces.
